Circus in Italy

Circus worldwide is going through hard times. In most western countries circuses are facing costant decreasing number of spectators because of more modern, attractive form of entertainment and all sort costs on the rise (petrol, salaries), animal rights activists fighting for animal ban and cuts to public funds. For many small, family-run circuses, survival is now just a matter of pride and passion. Here is the portrait of a small italian circus which only a few years back counted 60 persons working in it and now reduced to about 20, mostly family-bounded, and, despite of all, manages to keep the magic of circus intact.
